Location: SMT, Inc. – Raleigh, NC
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM
? Training: First 2-3 weeks on 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Position Overview

As a Welder at SMT, you’ll be responsible for laying out, fitting, and welding metal components to precise specifications. You’ll help build sub-assemblies and final products that meet our high standards for quality and durability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret complex blueprints and welding diagrams
  • Set up and operate welding, grinding, and cutting equipment
  • Assemble parts and sub-assemblies to exact specifications
  • Inspect finished welds for quality and accuracy
  • Maintain production records and documentation
  • Keep a clean and safe work environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of MIG welding experience in a manufacturing setting

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in reading blueprints and performing detailed math calculations
  • Skilled with welding tools, calipers, micrometers, and grinders
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must pass respiratory medical evaluation, respirator training, and fit test prior to start

Work Environment

  • Exposure to noise, fumes, heat, and dust typical of a manufacturing setting
  • Use of PPE required (weld shield/helmet, etc.)

Supervision & Decision-Making

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities
  • Requires moderate independent judgment within company policies

Welder-2nd Shift

Trident Maritime Systems

Salary: –

U.S Citizenship Required.

Pay Rate: $25/hr.

2 nd Shift Hours: 3:30pm-12:00am Monday-Friday

Permanent, Full Time Position

We are seeking a skilled, experienced Welder to join our team in a maritime manufacturing environment. We are looking for someone with proficiency in TIG welding. In this role, you will perform advanced welding and fabrication tasks with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will be able to follow instructions, meet production deadlines, and produce high quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced welding and fabrication with minimal errors
  • Read and work from complex drawings and blueprints
  • Understand and use welding symbols
  • Use cranes and rigging for large, complex parts
  • Perform in-process quality checks
  • Use hand-held plasma cutters and torches
  • Apply correct weld sequencing
  • Use advanced fabrication and straightening techniques
  • Help train and mentor newer team members
  • Follow all safety procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of prior experience as an Welder; preferably in a manufacturing or production environment
  • At least 1 year of experience with TIG welding
  • Ability to read blueprints and use basic math and measuring tools
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 60 lbs.
  • Able to stand, kneel, or climb for long periods
