‘Wicked' corn maze, alpacas, pumpkins: Where to find fall harvest fun in the DC area

Alpacas and pumpkins and corn mazes, oh my!

We’re in all-out autumn mode, and it’s the perfect time to take a hayride, venture through a corn maze and pick a pumpkin.

Here are five places in Maryland and Virginia where you can get your fall on.

Maryland Corn Maze

This corn maze is going to be pop-u-lar! Wind your way through a “Wicked”-themed corn maze spanning 8 acres, then enjoy a petting zoo and farmyard activities. It’s about a 45-minute drive from downtown D.C.

Check Instagram for special events, including flashlight nights and dog weekend.

Tickets include all activities except for paintball and pony rides. Save $2 by purchasing tickets online in advance.

Fall ‘Ag’tivities with Black Barn Alpacas

Take a day trip up to Carroll County to get your fall on while petting some soft and fluffy alpacas.

Black Barn Alpacas promises small farm charm and cozy vibes while you take a hay ride, feed animals, play games, snap cute family pics and more. Everyone who gets a ticket can paint a pumpkin to bring home, too!

Doughnuts, cider and light refreshments will be available for purchase.

Great Country Farms

Catch a hayride to go pumpkin picking or take a spin through the 1.5-acre corn maze, then enjoy live music, marshmallow roasting, pig racing, cider pressing demos. Note that pumpkins are sold separately.

You can even blast a pumpkin from a cannon, for an extra fee.

Looking for a dog-friendly activity? You’re allowed to bring dogs on weekdays!

If you’re on a date, Bluemont Vineyard is a great extra stop nearby.

Hunting for the perfect pumpkin? This year, guests have three options. You can drive to the pumpkin patch for the classic picking experience, get a pumpkin at the festival’s market or visit the Pumpkin Yard to get pre-picked pumpkins.

The pumpkin festival has a lot more than gourds. Once you purchase a ticket, you can take hayrides, visit some backyard buddies, turn through the Twisted Corn Maze and jump in the corn pool.
