SAUGERTIES, N.Y. (NEWS10)– In preparation for the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival, parking regulations, road closures and traffic restrictions have been announced. The festival will kick off on September 27 and 28 at the Cantine Memorial Complex, but restrictions are in place from September 24 through 30.
Road Restrictions
Starting Wednesday, traffic will begin to be restricted, and road closures will take place on Bob Moser Drive, Pavilion Street, and Court Drive.
On Friday, traffic onto Bob Moser Drive, Pavilion Street, and Court Drive will be restricted to those involved with Garlic Festival set-up, deliveries, and Permit Holders. Permit holders are asked to use their assigned gate as listed on their permit, and permits must be visible on their windshield or rearview mirror.
On Saturday and Sunday, only permit holders will be allowed to enter the complex, but through their assigned gate as labeled on their permits. All permit holders must have their vehicles either behind their assigned booth or in assigned Vendor parking no later than 8:45 a.m.
During the festival, Mike Krout Road from HITS Gate “A” to Washington Avenue will be a one-way westbound roadway, starting at 9 a.m. on both days.
Parking Regulations
During the festival, handicap parking will be available from Washington Avenue at Gate W-5 in Festival Parking Lot “A.” Those looking for preferred on-site parking can use Gate W-6 off Washington Avenue, but must purchase a parking pass prior to guarantee a spot.
All other free public parking is located in the Saugerties High School Blue Parking lots and the HITS Orange Parking Lots. Shuttle buses will be available for those who park on the off-site lots.
Students who park in the Cantine Complex during school hours can use Parking Lot “A” or the South Ice Arena Parking Lot during all preparation times.
Police and parking attendants will be on site to help with traffic control and parking. If you’re looking to purchase an on-site parking pass, festival organizers ask to make your purchase by noon on Friday, September 26.
On-site parking is $10 per car, per day and can be purchased on the Kiwanis Ice Area website or alongside your admission tickets on the garlic festival website.
