Westbound I-8 connector to SR-67 closed for two weekends for pavement repairs

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Drivers in East County should prepare for significant detours over the next two weekends as Caltrans crews close the westbound Interstate 8 (I-8) connectors to State Route 67 (SR-67) and Magnolia Avenue for pavement repair work.

  • The FOX 5/KUSI video above provides driving safety tips

The closures are scheduled for:

  • Friday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. to Monday, Sept. 22 at 5 a.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. to Monday, Sept. 29 at 5 a.m.

In addition to the connector closures, the on-ramps from northbound Bradley Avenue and northbound Magnolia Avenue to both northbound SR-67 and westbound I-8 will also be shut down.

Motorists will need to use alternate routes during the closure. Caltrans recommends continuing westbound on I-8 to the West Main Street exit, turning left, and entering eastbound I-8 to access northbound SR-67 or Magnolia Avenue.

Further impacts are expected the second weekend, with northbound SR-67’s number two and three lanes closed from Greenfield Drive to Prospect Avenue beginning Friday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. through Monday, Sept. 29 at 5 a.m.

Caltrans reminds drivers that all dates and times are subject to change due to weather or unexpected traffic incidents.
