ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. – The Wentzville General Motors plant will experience temporary layoffs, according to a joint letter from the plant’s executive director and union chairman.
In the letter signed by Plant Executive Director Eric Shelhorn and UAW Local 2250 Chairman Jon Daugherty, the officials say the temporary layoffs will happen between Sept. 29 to Oct. 19. The layoffs are caused due to parts availability.
According to the letter, the layoffs will affect three shifts at the plant in the areas of skilled trades, stamping, body shop, final process, and other groups. The layoffs will provide more available work for employees during the process.
Workers will receive unemployment and sub pay instructions from the UAW Benefits and Labor Relations team during the layoff process.
