GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Volunteers are still needed for the New York Special Olympics Fall Games in Glens Falls. The games take place Oct. 17-18.
The Special Olympics give athletes with all different abilities the chance to shine on the field, but they need the community’s support to make it happen. Volunteers help the games run smoothly.
“The sports who need a few more volunteers are golf, softball — team and skills, as well as bocce,” Associate Director of Program, Sports Sara Massa said. “It’s great to have experience in that sport. Our athletes always love when there’s a fellow athlete of that sport, but you don’t have to have that experience. Everybody will be trained on their role at the beginning of their shift.”
Hundreds of athletes are expected to participate. All Special Olympics New York programs are offered at no cost to athletes, their families or caregivers.
