New body camera video shows a hiding suspect fall through a home’s ceiling and into the waiting arms of Florida SWAT officers.
The video released by the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday shows the encounter that began when a license plate reader spotted a stolen pickup truck.
Investigators discovered the suspect, 37-year-old Keith Rodgers, had bought lumber at a Home Depot while using the stolen truck, officials said.
The truck was found parked outside a home where Rodgers was seen unloading the lumber but when he spotted authorities he fled into the home, officials said.
Rodgers barricaded himself inside and was believed to be hiding in the attic as SWAT and crisis negotiators responded.
After several hours, and as SWAT was inside the home, Rodgers fell through the ceiling.
The video shows him dangling and then falling to the floor as he’s surrounded by SWAT officers in tactical gear who immediately take him into custody.
Rodgers faces charges including grand theft auto and resisting an officer without violence.
