
The United States men’s national soccer team is coming back to the Philadelphia area this November, with a friendly game against Paraguay at Chester’s Subaru Park, the Philadelphia Union announced over the weekend.
The game will be on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 5 p.m., with tickets going on sale this Thursday at 10 a.m. There’s also a presale window from 10 a.m today till 1 p.m. Wednesday for U.S. Soccer Insiders.
The game in Philly will be airing on TNT, HBO Max, Telemundo, Universo and Peacock.
The game is part of the team’s two-game friendly series in November, with a matchup against two-time FIFA World Cup winners Uruguay three days later in Tampa, Fla.
The U.S. plays Japan tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. in Columbus, Ohio, looking to bounce back from losses in its last two games, most recently at the hands of South Korea on Saturday. Union defender Nathan Harriel is in the current squad, along former Union player Jack McGlynn and Hershey, Pa. native Christian Pulisic.
The USMNT last played at the home of the Philadelphia Union seven years ago, in a 3-0 win against Bolivia on May 28, 2018. The U.S. squad has faced off against Paraguay in Chester once before, a 1-0 victory for the U.S. on June 11, 2016. Overall, the USMNT has four wins, two losses and two draws against Paraguay, going all the way back to a 3-0 victory for the U.S. at the first-ever World Cup in 1930.
As a host nation for next year’s World Cup, the U.S. has already qualified for the tournament, along with Canada and Mexico. All USMNT group games will be in the tournament’s Western region, with two games in Los Angeles and one in Seattle.
The women’s national team will also be making a stop in Philly this fall, with a game against Portugal on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m., then at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, Conn., on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 4 p.m.
The women’s game at Subaru Park will feature a pregame retirement celebration for Morgan, the San Diego Wave striker who hung up her cleats last September. Fifteen years ago, Morgan scored the first of her 123 international goals at Subaru Park, against China.
The Philadelphia Union currently have the best record in Major League Soccer, and have already earned a spot in this season’s playoffs. The Union next faces the Vancouver Whitecaps in Canada at 9:30 p.m. this Saturday, then it takes on Nashville SC in the U.S. Open Cup semifinal on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 8 p.m, in Tennessee.
