Third so-called ‘Loop puncher' accused of punching, striking 3 women

A third so-called “Loop puncher” is facing charges after police say he battered three women in separate attacks in downtown Chicago while on electronic monitoring.

Marlon Miller, 40, is facing three felony charges for aggravated battery in a public place after attacking several women on Dec. 10 in separate incidents that prosecutors say were “wholly unprovoked.”

The first attack occurred around 8:15 a.m. Dec. 10, according to prosecutors. Miller walked up to his first victim near 1 East Randolph Street and punched her in the eye, breaking her glasses and bruising her.

Then, Miller walked up at a 62-year-old woman who was walking with her cousin near 50 West Washington, according to prosecutors. Miller threw a box of chicken nuggets at the woman’s face, striking her, and then threw an open right hand at her face, grazing her nose.

In his final attack that day, Miller punched a woman in the face as she was walking with a coworker near 59 East Randolph, leaving her with a swollen and bruised eye.

The victims reported the incidents to police, who later located Miller based on their description. He was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of his arrest, prosecutors said, and he told police the women punched him first.

All of the women were walking to work when they were attacked, prosecutors said.

Miller has been arrested a total of nine times since 2018, including seven times in the past 12 months for battery and reckless conduct.

In five of those cases, he pled guilty. One was dismissed and three are still pending, including one from late November. Miller was released on electronic monitoring after the late November incident, records show, and he was still on electronic monitoring when Wednesday’s incident occurred.

Below are details on Miller’s several arrests prior to the most recent incident, according to court records:
