The Chicago Bears have advanced in the postseason for the first time in 15 years, and we now know who their opponent will be.
By virtue of the San Francisco 49ers’ victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, the Bears will welcome the Los Angeles Rams to Soldier Field for just the third postseason meeting between the franchises.
Their last playoff meeting came in the 1986 NFC Championship Game, with the Bears capturing a 24-0 shutout victory that brought them to their first-ever Super Bowl appearance.
The previous meeting took place in December 1950, with the Rams winning 24-14.
The Bears are coming off of their first playoff win in 15 years thanks to a 31-27 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Saturday. Caleb Williams threw for 361 yards and two touchdowns, setting a Bears record for passing yards in a playoff game in his second victory over the Packers in a month.
As for the Rams, they went to Charlotte to take on the Carolina Panthers, scoring a 34-31 victory. Matthew Stafford threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns in the win, with Puka Nacua racking up 10 catches for 111 yards and a touchdown.
The NFL has not yet announced the schedule for next weekend, but the game will take place at Soldier Field on either Saturday or Sunday.
The 49ers meanwhile will travel to take on the Seattle Seahawks in the Pacific Northwest, with the Seahawks coming off a bye as the top seed in the NFC.
