TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — The Texas Department of Public Safety said its troopers were investigating a two-vehicle crash that happened Monday morning on southbound State Highway 130 near FM 973.
A DPS sergeant said the 7 a.m. crash was fatal, but did not provide further details Monday morning. Austin-Travis County EMS said an occupant was ejected from a vehicle in the crash and that one adult died at the scene.
A follow-up email Monday afternoon from the sergeant said that troopers’ preliminary findings indicate “that a Chevrolet work van was parked on the shoulder when a Ford F-550 … struck the van.” The reason for the crash is still under investigation.
The deceased was the work van’s driver, according to DPS. First responders took the truck’s driver to a hospital for treatment.
DPS also said that two southbound lanes of SH-130 were closed after the crash, but have since reopened.
