BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 17-year-old male was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly hit and severely injured a student in September who was waiting for the school bus in Lockport, New York State Police announced.
Just before 7 a.m. on Sept. 4, police responded to Beattie Avenue for a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
An investigation found that the 17-year-old was driving a Ford Explorer southbound on Beattie Avenue and exited the roadway to the east, when he then drove through a front yard and hit a parked vehicle in a driveway. Police said the parked vehicle then struck a 15-year-old male.
The 15-year-old was transported to ECMC to be treated for severe leg injuries. The 17-year-old driver was also transported to ECMC.
The investigation detected cannabis in the driver’s blood, police said. Troopers also reportedly found two unfinished lower frames of a pistol ghost gun and an AR-15-style rifle inside of the vehicle that was driven by the teen.
He was charged with the following:
- second-degree assault
- second-degree vehicular assault
- two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- driving while ability impaired by drugs
- numerous vehicle and traffic law violations
The 17-year-old was arraigned at youth part court and remanded to the Oneida County Jail on a $100,000 cash bail.
