Serpentine Cider & Smokehouse hosted an album listening party, featuring friendship bracelet making (a Swiftie staple), a costume contest and even a performance by a local showgirl dancer.

Swift’s latest album was greatly anticipated by fans. Bree Steffen, Swiftie and organizer of the event, said she had never attended a listening party before hosting this one. She said the event brought people together and was full of joy.

“She can affect the economy, she can affect our feelings, she brings people together that were strangers and makes them friends,” Steffen said about Swift. “And I’m really excited we can have our own little event and bring people together here in San Diego.”

She spent weeks working on the event and shared she was grateful to see it all come together in time for the album’s release.

Sarah De Leon, a local San Diego showgirl, did a performance at the event to celebrate the “The Life of a Showgirl.”

When asked what she thinks about Swift, De Leon said, “How much time do we have?”

“She’s an incredible feminist, she’s so generous, I think she’s an icon,” De Leon continued. “She’s our generation’s Princess Diana.”

De Leon also commented on Swift’s recent engagement to NFL player Travis Kelce, stating it feels like a “royal wedding.”

Alongside listening parties, the album is making an appearance in movie theaters across the country. Swift announced the screening on social media, sharing the release will include behind the scenes footage, lyric videos and the premier of her new music video “The Fate of Ophelia.”

The debut is expected to make anywhere from $35 million to $40 million at the box office this weekend. Fans can watch the release party from Oct. 3-5 at select theaters.

Swifties like Steffen shared they are happy to see how Swift’s music can bring people together.

“They’re giving out friendship bracelets to people they just met,” Steffen said. “I love this community so much, it really just unites a bunch of strangers and by the end of the night we’ll all be best friends.”
