Surveillance video shows crash in SW Miami-Dade that killed father and son

Surveillance video in Southwest Miami-Dade on Friday captured the moment when a two-car crash claimed the lives of a father and son.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened on eastbound Quail Roost Drive and Southwest 117th Avenue involving a black Lexus Sedan and a gray GMC SUV.

Troopers said that the driver of the Lexus died at the scene, while the child passenger was airlifted to Kendall HCA, where they succumbed to their injuries.

Four people who were in the GMC survived the crash, troopers said.

In the surveillance video, the Lexus that was going eastbound appeared to hit a curb, causing the driver to lose control, and the car slid into the SUV at the intersection of Southwest 117th Avenue.

Lisette Lozano was taking orders at the Farm Stores on the corner when she heard the tires squeal.

She said that it sounded like the driver hit the brakes, and then she saw the car strike the SUV at the intersection.

Fire rescue crews then arrived at the scene.

Family members who spoke to NBC6 identified the father and son as 40-year-old Adam Bravo and 11-year-old Nathan Bravo.

She released a statement that reads in part:

“Our hearts are completely shattered. Both Adam and Nathan were the life of every family gathering. They shared the same passions, and Nathan looked up to Adam as his hero. Just four months ago, Nathan survived a terrible bike accident that caused an epidural hemorrhage with a midline shift. He was airlifted to Kendall Regional Hospital, where doctors worked tirelessly to save his life. By God’s grace, he pulled through, and we called him our miracle boy.”

Adam’s sister, Angie Rodriguez, launched a Gofundme to help pay for their funeral expenses.
