Sunnyvale’s Off the Rails Brewing Co. shutters

Off the Rails, a large brewery and restaurant space in downtown Sunnyvale, has closed indefinitely.

The brewpub announced on Instagram that its final day would be Jan. 10.

“This wasn’t an easy choice,” the announcement’s authors wrote. “We truly tried to find a path forward, but sometimes, despite best efforts, things don’t work out.”

The two-story brewery situated near the Sunnyvale Caltrain station hosted events like trivia nights, concert series, game day watch parties, community fundraisers and even jigsaw puzzling races and chess competitions.

Behind the brewpub was Saurabh Dwivedi, a home brewer, financial consultant and tech guy who wrote the recipes, and brewmaster Saul Ramirez, who brewed up the recipes and made them work. There were about a dozen beers on tap and a full menu with burgers, sandwiches, salads, pizza and more.

“We carry with us wonderful memories and deep appreciation in our hearts. Thank you for being part of our story,” the announcement concluded.
