(BCN) — A Suisun City attorney has been disbarred following her admission to multiple counts of serious misconduct involving 11 clients and their families, the State Bar Court of California announced on Thursday.
According to the Office of Chief Trial Counsel (OCTC), White misappropriated client funds, made false statements to the court, neglected criminal cases, and practiced law while ineligible.
In one case, White was allegedly paid $10,000 to represent a client with mental health issues but deposited the money into her personal account and spent it on personal expenses before performing any legal work, the State Bar Court of California said. She missed several court appearances and failed to refund the money.
In another case, she reportedly accepted $10,000 in cash without a written agreement and falsely told the court she had hired an investigator. Her inaction led to her client’s arrest and more than two years of incarceration.
White was placed on inactive status in October 2020 for failing to meet continuing legal education requirements but continued to appear in court, delaying proceedings in at least one case, OCTC noted.
