(NEXSTAR) – Ego Nwodim, a longtime cast member on “Saturday Night Live,” has announced she’s leaving the show after seven seasons.
“The hardest part of a great party is knowing when to say goodnight. But after seven unforgettable seasons, I have decided to leave SNL,” Nwodim wrote on Instagram. “I am immensely grateful to Lorne [Michaels] for the opportunity, to my castmates, the writers, and the crew for their brilliance, support, and friendship. Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will carry those memories (and that laughter) with me always.
“Now invite me to your weddings, please,” she added.

Some of Nwodim’s former castmates, including Cecily Strong and Punkie Johnson, reacted to her message on Instagram.
“I just texted you but I also want to say it loud and proud here: it was an honor and total joy to get to work with you. One of the best to ever do it,” wrote Strong, who left the show in 2022.
“YOU DID YOUR DUTY EZ. … WELCOME BACK TO OUTSIDE,” Johnson, who last appeared on the ‘SNL’ in 2024, wrote. “WE HAVIN A TIME. … LETS PLAY.”
Nwodim started on “Saturday Night Live” as a featured player in 2018 before becoming a repertory player a few years later. Some of her recurring characters included Lisa from Temecula and Miss Eggy, the latter of which caused a stir earlier this year after Nwodim, in character, prompted the audience to yell a curse word during a call-and-response portion of her “Weekend Update” appearance.
“We ran it at dress rehearsal, it did not happen. If it had, it would have been nixed,” Nwodim told Collider about the incident.
Nwodim is the latest member of the cast who is confirmed to be leaving, following reports that comedic actors Devon Walker, Emil Wakim, Michael Longfellow, Celeste Yim and Heidi Gardner would not be returning.
