A driver crashed a car into the side of a high school in a suburb of Chicago Tuesday afternoon, bringing emergency responders to the campus, video showed.
Around 3:35 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a single-vehicle crash into a building at St. Laurence High School, located at 5500 West 77th Street in Burbank, authorities said.
Video from Sky 5 showed a red vehicle crashed into the side of one of the school buildings, with emergency responders on scene.
The wall where the driver struck the building was visibly damaged by the impact.
“Thankfully, no St. Laurence students, faculty, or staff were injured in the incident, as it occurred after school ended while nobody was in the affected classroom,” the school said in a statement sent to NBC Chicago.
Classes at St. Laurence will transition to remote leaning for the remainder of the week as a precaution and to “allow time for safety assessments and necessary repairs,” the statement said.
“This decision was made out of an abundance of caution as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and staff,” the statement said.
Burbank police posted about the incident on social media.
No further details were immediately available.
