SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Schenectady Police Department is mourning the loss of retired K9 Flynn, who died after falling ill over the weekend. Flynn first began serving the Schenectady community in 2016 with his partner, Detective Kevin Derkowski.

The department stated on Monday that Flynn was a strong-willed and driven athlete who loved his work. Flynn retired from serving the Schenectady community with loyalty and courage in 2020.
Schenectady police said Flynn was a trusted friend and family member to the department. Detective Derkowski thanked the staff at Country Valley Veterinary Clinic for their compassion during Flynn’s final moments.
