SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Rotterdam-Princetown Fire District #5 has been given over $800,000 in federal funding. This money was granted to the fire district through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Program.
This grant money will allow the fire district will launch a marketing campaign to reach those who may not have previously considered joining, expand outreach to underserved demographics, provide expanded training, hire a professional program manager to handle recruitment and retention, and partner with a professional marketing company. The volunteer fire district serves Rotterdam, Princetown, and Guilderland in Schenectady and Albany Counties.
“This grant could not have come at a more critical time for our district. We are working hard to address the future of our fire station while also ensuring we have the dedicated volunteers needed to serve our residents,” said Chief Wesley Blessing, in part.
