Schenectady County celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Schenectady County residents can enter to win a large prize by signing up or renewing a library card through September. During Library Card Sign-Up Month, the Schenectady County Public Library is encouraging residents of all ages to sign up for a library card and reap the benefits of all of the library’s services.

Anyone who signs up or renews a library card this month will be entered into a drawing for a Nintendo Switch, iPad, or Kindle. Adults are eligible to win the Kindle or iPad, while anyone 18 and younger is entered to win the Nintendo Switch.

Also happening in September is the One Card, Endless Possibilities Carnival on September 20. From noon to 3 p.m. at the Hon. Karen B. Johnson Main Library in Schenectady, library card holders can participate in the games, activities, and learn about all of the services a library card can offer.

“A library card opens the door to so many opportunities—education, entertainment, technology, and connection,” Schenectady County Legislator and Chair of the Education and Library Committee Haileab Samuel said. “Whether you’re exploring digital resources, museum passes, or attending a family event, your SCPL card is the key to unlocking it all. This month is the perfect time to get connected—or reconnected—with everything our libraries offer.”
