SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Schenectady County Legislature unanimously approved the 2026 operating budget. The total budget is $460,735,115 and has a 0 percent increase in the county’s property tax levy.
They also passed the $148 million 2026-2031 Capital Improvement Project. It includes over $27 million for capital projects in 2026, including more than $11.2 million for SUNY Schenectady, $5.5 million to fund road improvements, and $5.7 million for the General Aviation North Apron Reconstruction Project. The program also includes $1.7 million to upgrade the county dispatch system.
The budget also covers continuation of services to county residents, including: a 3 percent increase to SUNY Schenectady; workforce development opportunities; treatment programs for heroin and opioid use and naloxone training, and Day Hab support; and supporting Glendale Home and continuing its certified nursing assistant training program.
