San Diego weather: Where to get free sandbags

Officials want San Diego County residents to be prepared as potentially heavy rains and some snow head toward the region this week.

The low-pressure system from the Northwest will bring showers late Thursday through Friday, with another round of more significant showers possible on Saturday, and another chance of showers early next week, the NWS said.

Ahead of the storm, the county, Cal Fire, and several cities are providing free sandbags for residents and businesses. Here’s where you can pick them up:

Some places may have a limited supply, so it’s best to call ahead and double-check availability. Don’t forget to bring a shovel for filling bags.
