BETHLEHEM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Bethlehem’s newest park is now fully complete. Officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for several renovations to Normans Kill Ravines Park on Tuesday.
The park was first created in 2021, located within walking and biking distance of residential neighborhoods, the Albany County rail trail, and the Four Corners commercial district in Delmar. At the time, it covered around 145 acres.
Now, Normans Kill Ravines Park has grown to 155 acres after several renovations, including three new bridges and miles of new mountain biking and hiking trails. According to officials, the added bridges will improve access for emergency response and park maintenance.
“As more residents make use of this beautiful park, it becomes even more critical that our volunteer firefighters gain swift and safe access to these remote areas,” according to Art Siegel from the Delmar Fire Department. “The new bridges will enhance our ability to bring life-saving personnel and apparatus to those in need, and will enable us to more effectively preserve our natural resources from the ravages of fire.”
Normans Kill Ravines Park is located at 70 Wright Lane in Delmar. A trail map can be found on the town of Bethlehem website.
