Reliving the best Bears moments of the 2025-26 season

Sunday night was tough for Chicago Bears fans to swallow, as they saw their season come to an end in heartbreaking fashion.

The Bears, who had made dramatic comeback victories a habit, looked like they were on the verge of another one after Cole Kmet’s incredible touchdown catch in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t meant to be as the Los Angeles Rams escaped Chicago with a 20-17 victory in overtime.

Now the Bears are left to evaluate what they need to address in the offseason to help make Ben Johnson’s sophomore season a success, and there will be plenty of tough decisions that will need to be made.

Before that process begins however, NBC Chicago wanted to take a moment to look back at some of the best moments the team had during the 2025-26 season.

These appear in chronological order.

No Field Goal for You!

The Bears, fresh off their first win of the season over the Dallas Cowboys, went into Las Vegas to take on the Raiders and had a 25-24 lead in the late stages of the game.

The Raiders however refused to quit, and they got into field goal territory in the closing seconds, setting up Daniel Carlson for the potential game-winner.

Josh Blackwell had other ideas however, blocking the kick and sealing the Bears’ win over the Raiders in what was the first of a slew of dramatic victories on the season.

D’Andre Swift Takes Over

Speaking of dramatic wins, the Bears went into Washington, where just last season they had suffered a humiliating defeat on a Hail Mary pass, and conquered some serious demons with a victory.

Down 24-22 to the Commanders late in the game, the Bears recovered a fumble near midfield, and D’Andre Swift positively took over the game, rushing for 34 yards to help set up the game-winning field goal for Chicago.

A Slugfest in Cincinnati

There are numerous moments from this game that could’ve been picked, including Caleb Williams’ first career touchdown catch, but we have to give the honors to rookie tight end Colston Loveland, who declared emphatically that he was a force to be reckoned with.

He made his way onto the big stage with his team trailing by two points after coughing up a late lead to the Bengals. With 54 seconds remaining, Loveland pulled off an epic 58-yard touchdown that saw him pinball off defenders and scamper into the end zone to help deliver a 47-42 victory for the Bears.

Johnson on the Board in the NFC North

Head coach Ben Johnson went 0-2 in his first two NFC North games, but Devin Duvernay helped him to erase that mark in one fell swoop.

Trailing the Vikings with just 50 seconds remaining, Duvernay returned the ensuing kickoff 56 yards, and Cairo Santos did the rest as he knocked through a field goal to give the Bears a win over the Minnesota Vikings in the Twin Cities.

Knocking Off the Champs

Bears fans had the Black Friday showdown with the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles circled on their calendars, and their team did not disappoint.

The run game made a huge impact, with Swift and Kyle Monangai both running for more than 100 yards, but it was Cole Kmet’s key insurance touchdown that sealed the game and helped the Bears to a remarkable win.

Incredible Drama vs. Green Bay

It’s hard to pick a “Game of the Year” for this Bears team, but the team’s rematch with the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field is on the short list.

Trailing for much of the game, the Bears found themselves in tough waters down a score in the closing minutes, but Santos was able to hit a perfect onside kick that his team would recover to get possession back.

Williams’ fourth-and-goal pass to Jahdae Walker in the back of the end zone was the stuff of legend, and then all the Bears’ quarterback did was find DJ Moore for a game-winning touchdown pass in overtime to give Chicago the incredible 22-16 victory.

Cardiac Bears Strike Again

Down 21-3 at halftime to the Packers, Bears fans could have been forgiven if they believed their postseason had gone up in smoke at the hands of their bitter rivals.

Naturally, “Iceman” wasn’t ready to lay down, making a series of incredible plays, punctuated by his 27-yard completion to Rome Odunze that will be forever immortalized in Bears highlight reels.

Moore caught the game-winning touchdown in the late stages of the fourth quarter, and the Bears had another incredible win.

The Bears were down 21-3 at halftime to the Packers in the NFC playoffs, but the biggest play of the game turned on Caleb Williams hitting Rome Odunze for an incredible 27-yard gain on fourth down.

One More for the Memory Banks

The Bears may have lost to the Rams on Sunday, but they gave fans one more jolt of excitement to remember the season by.

On a 4th-and-4 play late in the fourth quarter, Williams pulled off a very odd scramble, running straight back toward midfield to evade the pass rush. As he turned around he lofted a high pass into the end zone, and somehow Kmet got underneath it to tie the game at 17-17.
