KINGSTON, N.Y. (NEWS10)– A Poughkeepsie man is facing multiple charges for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a minor, Kingston Police said. Ericq Pesante, 31, was charged with second-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said an investigation began in September after officers received a report that a juvenile female victim engaged in a sexual relationship with an adult male. Through the investigation, Pesante was identified as the suspect.
On Wednesday, Pesante allegedly traveled to Kingston and reportedly met with the minor, police said. After police were notified, the two were found together, where Pesante allegedly admitted to having sex with the juvenile.
He was arrested without incident.
Pesante was later arraigned in Kingston City Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail on bail. Police said he has since posted bail and is schedule to reappear in city court at a later date.
According to the department, the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information or who believes they are a victim of Pesante is asked to contact the department at (845) 331-8404 or email Detective Michael DeFrance at mdefrance@kingston-ny.gov.
