Owner badly burned after massive fire breaks out at Opa-locka auto shop

A man has a long road to recovery after he was badly burned in a fire at his auto shop in Opa-locka last week.

Sebastian Guyher spoke to NBC6 from his hospital bed on Monday. He said he has tons of support from his family and wife, who has been by his side every day.

Guyher, 43, was working at his shop, Teiko Auto Sales, last Thursday when a car caught on fire.

Before he knew it, he was on fire and said a pain like he’s never known consumed him.

“It just started spreading all over,” Guyher said.  “One second I was there, and next thing I know, I just feel this hot heat and the fire just getting higher and my clothes catching fire and I just ran out.”

He now has serious burns all over his body, including his face, hands and arms.

“I’m just looking to get better and be healthy again and be able to work again and provide for my family again and then taking care of myself and try to get my business back open,” Guyher said.

Guyher has owned his shop since 2016. He now needs surgery to basically regrow and heal his skin. He said he’s fighting to heal every day.

Despite his pain and the long road to recovery, Guyher is staying positive. A man and a father of four who’s always used to providing and helping others, is now asking for help.

“I’m feeling a lot better right now,” Guyher said. “Mentally, I’m good. Physically, it’s getting better.”

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue is investigating the cause of the fire.

A GoFundMe was established to help with Guyher’s medical costs.
