Officials are warning football fans to bundle up for Sunday’s showdown between the Bears and Rams at Soldier Field as temperatures are forecasted to be in the teens in Chicago.
Rams fans in town to see the NFC Divisional Round game will get a taste of true Chicago winter, as temperatures at kickoff are expected to be around 10 degrees, according to the NBC 5 Storm Team.
The game will kick off at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Soldier Field and it could be one of the coldest playoff games in Bears history. Fans opting to watch indoors can catch the game on NBC.
Sunday’s high is expected to be around 22 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, and there’s a 30% chance of snow in the Chicago area after noon.
With wind chill from gusts blowing up to 25 miles per hour, temperatures will feel closer to 8 degrees throughout the game, according to NWS.
Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications issued an advisory Friday warning residents of the cold temperatures expected for the game.
“Residents and visitors attending the game should dress warmly and in layers,” OEMC said in the advisory. “OEMC advises everyone to be aware of weather conditions and to follow instructions and heed all warnings from public safety officials. ”
If weather conditions warrant an advisory, watch or warning, OEMC will notify the public, the department said.
The Chicago Bears also warned their fans to be sure to prepare for “another cold game” in a post on X.
Rams fans returning home Monday morning will sub-zero wind chills as cold air moves into the area early next week, according to NWS.
