NJ dad returns from work to find his wife murdered their boys, prosecutors claim

A 35-year-old New Jersey woman has been charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of her two little boys, ages 5 and 7, prosecutors announced Wednesday.

According to investigators, Hillsborough police got a 911 call at a Shell Court home around dinnertime Tuesday. It came from a man, who told them he found his kids unconscious when he got home from work that day.

He also reported that his wife had done something to them.

Officers responding to that call found both the man and his wife, Priyatharsini Natarajan. The two children were found dead in a bedroom. Prosecutors say their investigation found Natarajan allegedly caused the death of her boys, though it wasn’t clear how they died. Their identities haven’t been released.

The medical examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Natarajan had an attorney who could comment on the allegations. Prosecutors offered no potential motive in their announcement.

The superintendent of Hillsborough Public Schools, Mike Volpe, said that the two boys were students at Sunnymead Elementary School. He called their loss “unfathomable.”

“Our priority remains the emotional health of our students and staff. Crisis response teams and additional counseling services are on-site and will remain available for as long as they are needed. We are urging families to be simple and direct when speaking with their children, to limit social media exposure to avoid distressing rumors…” Volpe said in a statement.
