SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — In a controversial move, the city of San Diego has decided to implement a new trash collection fee.
In addition to the fee, roughly 750,000 old trash and recycle bins will be replaced with new smart bins with RFID technology.
The total cost for the switch will be around $65 million.
The move is not only costly, but also highly controversial. Attorney Maria Severson joined Good Morning San Diego to explain, as seen in the video at the top of this article.
