Knaus Berry Farm, a longtime South Florida staple known for delicious cinnamon rolls and milkshakes, is reopening Monday at a new location in Miami-Dade and under new ownership.
The farm posted on social media that the grand opening of the new location would happen on Dec. 22. But of course, some customers couldn’t wait to get their hands on the famed treats and lined up the night before.
NBC6 crews saw more than a hundred people in line by 7 a.m. on opening day.
One man, Matthew, said he was there for a special reason.
“My wife loves these cinnamon rolls,” he said. “It’s her birthday today, so I’m out here grabbing them for her.”
The once family-owned farm had operated in Homestead dating back to 1956, but now it’s a few miles away.
The new location at 16790 Southwest 177th Avenue will offer more capacity, parking, and an additional oven to help with long wait times, the farm said previously.
The farm has new ownership, but the Knaus family has been retained as consultants with longtime general manager Thomas Blocher remaining as kitchen consultant.
New owner Joel White said Monday he was “honored to continue” the South Florida tradition.
“We really have worked very hard to maintain and continue [the tradition]. We have 90% of the same staff here, including a kitchen team that has over 100 years of experience, the same recipes, the same equipment, it’s gonna be the same for people,” he said.
White said the 2025 menu is the same as last year’s offerings. They also brought over the original shake shack, the stand from which customers would receive the sweet dessert, to the new location.
As for the changes in store: for the first time, Knaus Berry Farm will be open on Sundays and will be accepting credit cards. The farm will be closed on Monday.
“People have been coming here for 40 years, and we really have a need to keep it the same,” White said. “We don’t want to mess with it.”
