BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A motorcyclist who died in a crash early Monday night has been identified by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred in Lewiston. Michael Pendergast, 34, of Amherst, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office received multiple reports just before 6:30 p.m. of a collision in front of 4663 Townline Road near Albright Road in Lewiston.
An investigation found that a pickup truck was traveling northbound on Townline Road and tried to make a left turn onto Albright Road. Officials said the truck turned in front of Pendergast who was traveling southbound on Townline Road.
The motorcyclist was believed to be traveling at a high rate of speed, the sheriff’s office said, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
