Missing 28-year-old woman found dead inside Vallejo home

(KRON) — A missing 28-year-old Vallejo woman who was last seen Friday night was found dead inside a home on Tuesday, according to authorities.

Renia Lewis was reported missing to the Vallejo Police Department on Sunday after she was last seen around 10 p.m. on Friday near 14th Street and Starr Avenue. After receiving the report, officers conducted a welfare check at a home on 14th Street and searched all rooms, closets “and places a person could hide,” police said. Authorities who searched the home on Sunday did not locate Lewis.

On Monday, the California Highway Patrol activated an Ebony Alert amid the search for the missing woman and the Federal Bureau of Investigation provided resources and support in the case.

Another search of the 14th Street home was conducted on Tuesday after the Vallejo PD Detective Division took over the investigation. With a search warrant, detectives combed through the residence and discovered a concealed entrance to the attic, according to police. Inside the attic, authorities said they found human remains identified as Lewis.

Investigators identified Douglas Irwin Shaw, 41, of Vallejo, as the homicide suspect. Shaw was arrested Tuesday at his place of work and booked into the Solano County Jail for suspicion of murder.
