A man was taken into custody after stealing an ambulance from the emergency room entrance at Homestead Hospital and leading officers on a chase, authorities said.
An off-duty officer was working at the hospital when the MCT Express ambulance was stolen, Homestead Police officials said Tuesday.
The officer began a pursuit of the stolen ambulance as other officers assisted.
The ambulance was finally stopped in the 2500 block of Northeast 8th Street, where the suspect was taken into custody.
The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Arturo Morejon, was arrested on a charge of grand theft of medical equipment.
