BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and News 4 is once again partnering with Roswell Park for the annual Mammothon event.
Early detection is crucial in the fight against breast cancer. Mammothon has a goal of encouraging 550 women to sign up for a mammogram by Friday, Oct. 3, at either Roswell Park’s downtown Buffalo location or Breast Care of WNY in Williamsville.
Last year, the goal of 525 sign-ups was passed, with a total of 595 women contacting Roswell to set up a mammogram.
To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-ROSWELL (1-800-767-9355) or visit their website.
Who should get a mammogram?
Roswell Park says women should receive yearly mammograms once they turn 40.
All women should talk with their primary care doctor or GYN provider about breast cancer risk beginning at age 25. If certain risk factors are identified, screening may be recommended before age 40. Early detection could save your life.
