LIVE RADAR: Storms in South Florida cause flooding in Dania Beach

Showers and thunderstorms continue to rumble across South Florida Sunday afternoon as deep moisture continues to linger across the area.

Due to locally heavy rainfall and the threat for isolated flooding, multiple flood advisories have been issued by the National Weather Service in Miami.

Rain totals have already exceeded two inches for the day in Plantation, Sunrise and Dania Beach.

The following areas could experience minor flooding:

  • Hollywood
  • Hallandale
  • North Miami
  • North Miami Beach
  • Aventura
  • Sunny Isles Beach
  • Golden Beach
  • Hollywood Downtown

The flood advisory ended at 5:15 p.m.

NBC6 cameras captured one driver who was driving east on Stirling, where the water was over the median.

Stacey Glick thought she couldn’t make it through after he BMW suddenly stopped and was stalled in the middle of the road.

A tow truck was in the area and was able to pull her out of the water.

At Miami International Airport, there were 165 delays and no cancellations, while at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, there were 98 delays and two cancellations.

While the weather may settle just a touch overnight, a soggy pattern will return Monday as even more widespread shower and thunderstorm activity pulls across South Florida.

Monday does appear to be the wettest day of the next several as drier conditions should begin to move in later in the work week period.

September continues to produce healthy rains across South Florida, with rain totals already exceeding the monthly average, proving to be the wettest month so far this rainy season.

Over 15 inches of rain has been recorded in Miami this month. Fort Lauderdale, still running a 10 inch deficit for the year, is not far behind with over 11 inches of rainfall in the last three weeks.
