Law enforcement increasing patrols during Greeley's Oktobrewfest on Saturday

DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado law enforcement agencies are planning to ramp up patrols in Weld County to “deter impaired driving” in the area of Oktobrewfest this weekend.

Oktobrewfest is a two-day free festival in the city of Greeley that will have a mix of craft beers, food, live music, engaging activities, and much more.

With the possible rise in activity due to the festival, the Colorado State Patrol said it will be working with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office to increase the presence of patrols around Weld County, including areas around the festival on Saturday.

The agencies said while impaired driving is going to be the main focus, any dangerous driving behavior in the area observed or reported “will be addressed.”

From the beginning of 2025 to Aug. 31, according to CSP data, troopers have investigated 92 crashes in Weld County that were a result of an impaired driver. Seven of those crashes were deadly and 29 of them caused injuries, said CSP.

The agency said the operation is aimed at saving lives by stopping impaired driving “in its tracks.”

The public is asked to report any “suspected impaired drivers” to CSP by calling the agency’s number at *277. Any emergency calls should be made to 911.
