BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Lackawanna City School District has launched an investigation after a staff member allegedly posted a “concerning” social media post regarding the recent death of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk last week, the district said Wednesday.
The district posted on its website that the post is “reported to express approval” about the shooting death of Kirk, which occurred on Sept. 10 at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
The investigation is being done in accordance with district policy and “applicable law.” The district said it will take “appropriate action, if necessary.” It is unclear if the post was made by a teacher or other staff member.
“As with all personnel matters, the District is required to comply with state and federal laws governing employee privacy and confidentiality,” the district said. “Accordingly, we will not be able to comment further on the details of the investigation or its outcome.”
Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused shooter, faces several charges, including aggravated murder. He made his first court appearance on Tuesday. He could face the death penalty if convicted.
