LOGAN HEIGHTS, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — La Boocha Kombucha is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by unveiling a new flavor of its organic handcrafted kombucha: Ginger Berry.
The new flavor brings together a vibrant medley of blackberry, strawberry and ginger with a splash of lime juice.
Founder Graciela Cervantes loves sharing her kombucha with the community, noting that the bright colors and bold flavors are a nod to her cultural heritage.
The business is a full-on family affair as her daughters help in the business and Cervantes’ mother even inspired the name itself.
“My mom couldn’t pronounce Kombucha,” Cervantes explained. “She was always saying ‘da me la boocha.'” The Spanish phrase translates to “give me the boocha” which gave Cervantes the novel idea for the fun name.
To close out Hispanic Heritage Month, La Boocha Kombucha will also host a “Brew Your Own Kombucha” workshop at the Mujeres Brewhouse, located in Julian, on Sunday, Oct. 3, from noon to 2 p.m. This event will include a kombucha brewing demo, a manufacturing tour and a complimentary bottle of La Boocha Kombucha.
