AUSTIN (KXAN) — Anderson’s rise to statewide relevance in Class 5A has been on full display this season, and the Trojans don’t plan on stopping their quest for a district title anytime soon.
Ranked No. 9 in the latest 5A-Division I Top 10, Anderson takes its undefeated record south to face Buda Hays at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Bob Shelton Stadium in the KBVO Game of the Week.
A win keeps the Trojans atop the District 12-5A1 standings, and for the Hawks, an upset win would at least keep them mathematically alive for a playoff berth.
For Anderson, running back Caleb Crenshaw has been one of the most dominant players in Texas. He has rushed for 1,428 yards, averaging almost 10 yards per carry and more than 200 yards per game, with 17 touchdowns. Quarterback Cove Darbyshire has thrown for 12 touchdowns against five interceptions.

On the defensive side for the Trojans, Liam McMillian has been outstanding with 22 tackles for loss and 64 overall. He also has three interceptions and a blocked punt.
For the Hawks, quarterback Tacoma Ames is out for the season with a knee injury he suffered against Lockhart on Oct. 3. Troy Wright has taken over those duties, and he has a couple of solid backs he can hand it off to in Gabriel Peach and Eyan Stigall. Peach has rushed for 500 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Stigall has scored four times and has tallied 363 yards on the ground.
