The Position

Monument View is seeking a full-time Youth Pastor to lead and grow our youth ministry, focusing on the spiritual growth of our 7th-12th grade students and reaching youth and families of our community. The overarching goal is to inspire students to start and grow their relationship with God through Christ-centered teaching and supporting activities. The Youth Pastor will develop and implement an overarching vision and strategy for the youth program, empower adult leaders, and work alongside the Lead and Associate Pastors under the direction of the Elder Board.

Our Church

Monument View Bible Church is a church family of 225+ people located in beautiful Fruita, Colorado. We are a generational church, including young families up through retired folks. Our mission is to glorify God and make disciples by helping one another experience a life-changing walk with God. Our church has a reputation for friendliness and has a long-running Awana ministry as well as a thriving food pantry (Four Loaves Two Fishes). MVBC is an independent and non-denominational church with a Bible-grounded theology and elder-led governance.

Our Location

Fruita is an active community of about 15,000 people, located about 12 miles from downtown Grand Junction, the largest city on the western half of Colorado. Fruita offers quick access to a variety of outdoor activities including mountain and road biking, rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, hiking, fishing, and more. Fruita’s climate is that of a high desert and is a 5-minute drive from the Colorado River, and a 10-minute drive from the Colorado National Monument. Monument View Bible Church is strategically situated just north of our growing city. Fruita has a large middle school and high school, and with the filling of this position, MVBC will be the only church with a youth pastor within the city proper.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Overarching Goal: inspire and help middle and high school students start and grow their relationship with God
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive youth ministry strategy
  • Provide weekly youth group meetings for MVBC’s middle and high school students
  • Teach engaging, biblically sound lessons (Sunday morning preaching and other teaching opportunities will also be available)
  • Coordinate and supervise youth activities outside weekly youth group (e.g. fellowship events, outreach events, service events)
  • Equip and empower adult volunteers
  • Build connections with local school and community organizations
  • Creatively find ways to reach out to youth and families in our community

Qualifications

  • Have a love, passion for, and calling to minister to young people
  • A mature Christian modeling I Timothy 3:1-7 (Elder qualities) and Galatians 5:22,23 (Fruit of the Spirit) character
  • College degree in Biblical studies/ministry and ministry experience preferred
  • Ability to build and lead a team to accomplish goals
  • Strong organizational as well as communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Working knowledge of and ability to use technology applicable to youth and church ministry (e.g. social media, Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • Have a servant’s heart and teachable spirit
  • Able to work independently and be challenged
  • Be loyal to the vision and leadership of MVBC and always protect the unity of the church

This is a full-time (40-45 hours per week), salary position. Salary commensurate with education and experience.

We want to help YOU develop as a pastor. Both our Lead and Associate Pastors have experience in youth ministry and can help mentor you to grow as a youth pastor and leader.

Youth Pastor+

Calvary Church

Salary: 35000.00 – 40000.00

Position Overview: The Youth Pastor works closely with the student ministry volunteer team, and parents to engage the hearts and minds of students for a relationship with Jesus and to lead them toward a life fully devoted to God. The Youth Pastor will help to create, implement, and improve middle and high school ministry programs and provide leadership, relational engagement, spiritual guidance, and developmental support for the Calvary Church Student Ministry. This leader will work in a secondary area of ministry that fits calling and passions.

Vision and Strategic Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Calvary Church Student Ministry
  • Partner with parents and support them in raising their kids to know and follow Jesus
  • Extend our ministry of Christ’s love through outreach and evangelism to students in the Michiana (Michigan/Indiana)area
  • Create welcoming environments where students can enjoy shared experiences, have fun, and build friendships

Leadership Development

  • Offering spiritual guidance, oversight, and coaching to Student Ministry volunteers
  • Develop the ministry’s annual budget in cooperation with the pastoral staff
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, room usage, and expenditures
  • Oversee security measures and safe church policies to ensure each students’ welfare

Build Teams

  • Recruit, train, support, and develop volunteers for all Student Ministry activities
  • Cultivate spiritual community among volunteers, fostering a place where they feel they belong
  • Develop relationships with community organizations, area churches, and schools in the area.
  • Meet with area student ministry directors to establish best practices

Mobilize and Execute

  • Lead students into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and help them take next steps in their walk with Christ
  • Create opportunities for students to love others through service projects, outreach events, and personal sharing of their faith
  • Provide leadership, planning, teaching, and curriculum for weekly worship services, programming, and small groups
  • Planning, executing, and evaluating student events and activities (camps, trips, retreats, etc.)

Relationships with parents and students

  • Build Christ-centered relationships with students and their families
  • Be available to counsel and shepherd students and their families
  • Invest significant time in contact work with students by attending sports games, school lunches, and extracurricular activities as available
  • Pursue unchurched or spiritually apathetic students by creating a culture of invitation, connection, and follow up

Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend weekly church staff meetings
  • Perform other duties and tasks as requested or assigned by the Senior Pastor according to gifting

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from an institution of higher education (college, university, etc.)
  • Current enrollment in or graduation from Seminary degree or equivalent is preferred

Experience & Skills:

  • Previous experience in student ministry is required with a minimum of 3 – 6 years of experience leading a student ministry, or church-related ministry with recruitment, development, oversight, delegation, and management in a mid-size church/organization
  • Relationally gifted and able to disciple, mentor, and train staff and volunteers
  • Strong communication skills
  • Enjoy being with kids and able to engage actively on their level
  • Administrative and strategic leadership ability
  • Strong computer, Audio Visual, and technology skills (Microsoft Office, ProPresenter, video editing, etc.)

Faith:

  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ; clear salvation testimony
  • A personal commitment to grow spiritually, obey God’s Word, and demonstrate His love
  • A passion for Christ and a call to Christian ministry or service to children and/or families
  • Proven willingness and ability to share their personal experiences of Christ with others
  • Church membership required; must commit to active membership at Calvary Church
  • Must agree with Calvary Church’s Purpose and Mission and what we believe

Character:

  • Humble, teachable, accountable, and willing to grow
  • Creative and willing to explore new ideas to connect with children and their families
