Staff Environmental Engineer/Geologist/Scientist

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Under supervision of senior staff, work on environmental projects throughout the region.
  • Conduct environmental site assessments, observe test borings and monitor well installation, and perform environmental sampling, including soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and vapor investigations.
  • Perform field observation of subcontractors.
  • Perform data management and analysis, prepare reports and assist in the preparation and delivery of technical presentations with clients and/or regulators.
  • This position has a year-round field component, work in inclement conditions is required.
  • Travel, including overnight travel, is required.

Minimum Qualifications


  • B.S. in Geology, Environmental Science, or Civil/Environmental Engineering. M.S. is a plus.
  • 0-3 years of professional experience in environmental consulting. Knowledge of NJ or PA environmental regulations a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills with technical analysis software. Experience with AutoCAD and/or GIS software a plus.
  • Proficiency in report writing and excellent communication skills.
  • Willing and able to travel on assignments as needed.
  • Must hold a valid U.S. Driver’s license.
  • Due to client requirements for anticipated projects must be willing to submit to and pass random drug screenings.

Note that typical ecological staff have highly variable schedules. On average, an ecological staff person may spend around two-thirds of their time in the office and one-third in the field. A typical field day may be 2-8 hours. A typical work week may have 1-2 field days.
