Protect the fiduciary interests of the Corporation through collection efforts, and prompt investigation and administrative handling of personal injury and property damage claims brought by passengers, employees and others.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: – Thoroughly investigates liability and damage aspects of accidents/incidents involving reports of personal injury and property damage. – Establishes appropriate liability accruals/reserves and assures the claims database is accurate and current. – Makes contact with claimants promptly, provides assistance, and monitors medical treatment. – Evaluates claims/lawsuits with respect to liability and damages to determine corporate exposure. – Accomplishes the fair and equitable disposition of claims and lawsuits by negotiating settlements with claimants and opposing counsel. – Assists outside counsel in prosecution/defense of lawsuits filed by and against Amtrak. – Must have access to reliable transportation to fulfill work requirements, such as trave…Claims Specialist, Claims, Specialist, Skills, Transportation, Business Services
