Shop Manager – Urban Auto Repairs Job Purpose: The Shop Manager oversees the daily operations of Urban Auto Repairs, ensuring smooth workflow, excellent customer service, and high-quality vehicle repairs. This role requires a balance of management, customer interaction, and hands-on shop support, working closely with both customers and mechanics. Duties & Responsibilities: Handle phone calls, scheduling, and customer service, including explaining diagnoses, estimates, and repair options. Prepare invoices, estimates, and work orders accurately and on time. Coordinate and assign jobs to mechanics, ensuring efficient workflow and quality control. Manage parts ordering, inventory, and supplies. Perform small mechanical tasks such as oil changes, resetting oil lights, topping off fluids, and assisting mechanics when needed. Support technicians by helping with diagnostics, simple repairs, or prep work. Monitor shop equipment, cleanliness, and safety procedures. Resolve customer concerns in a professional and timely manner. Maintain accurate records of services, work completed, and shop performance. Train and support shop staff to improve efficiency and teamwork. Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience in automotive repair and/or shop management Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Excellent phone and customer service skills Knowledge of invoicing, estimates, and scheduling software (or willingness to learn) Basic mechanical ability (oil changes, resetting lights, etc.) Ability to work well with technicians and customers alike Leadership, dependability, and problem-solving skills Bilingual (English/Spanish preferred) to better serve our diverse customer base Valid driver’s license
