Job Title: Fine Dining Server – 1862 by Martin Hamann
Reports to: Dining Room Manager
Location: The Union League of Philadelphia; 140 S. Broad Street Philadelphia PA 19102
Summary:
We are seeking a Dining Room Server to interact with members, verbalize dinner specials, and offer wine pairings in a fine dining professional environment. You will be the face of our room and responsible for our guests’ experiences.
Dining room server responsibilities include ensuring our dining room is tidy and detailed prior to guests arriving, presenting specials, and serving food and beverages. You need to be quick on your feet, possess the ability to multitask and have a polite and friendly attitude. If you enjoy talking to people and thrive in an interactive, refined workplace, we’d like to meet you.
Your goal will be to provide a standard of service that our members have come to expect and consistently maintain the highest quality dining experience for them and their guests. 1862 by Martin Hamann is considered the crown jewel concept of The Union League, and drastically changed the culinary program upon its opening in 2009.
Responsibilities
- Prepare table settings with special attention to details and order
- Follow and adhere to our Standards and Steps of Service
- Attend to members upon seating
- Present verbal specials and help guests review menu and wine list
- Answer questions or make recommendations for seasonal and specialty items
- Write clean, concise dupe orders for the kitchen
- Collaborate with other servers and kitchen/bar staff
- Address complaints or problems promptly with a positive attitude
- Correctly and accurately ring member chits and accept payment
Requirements
- Fine dining restaurant serving experience
- Strong wine, spirits and beer knowledge
- Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules, RAMP certification preferred
- Attention to cleanliness and service details
- Ability to multitask and remain calm and professional while providing a highly curated dining experience for the members and their guests
- Excellent people skills with a friendly attitude
- Responsible and trustworthy
- Bachelor’s degree is strongly encouraged but not required, preference for hospitality or restaurant management
- Flexible schedule including mandatory holidays
