Summary/Objective The Elementary Education Services Director provides mental health intervention, which includes group and individual therapy, case management, crisis intervention, and psychoeducation to children who exhibit behavioral disorders and / or learning disabilities, and who have been identified as severely emotionally disturbed. The Director fosters a nurturing environment for children to learn pro-social skills.The Director is responsible to supervise the Elementary Education Services team, daily behavior programming, and overall implementation of the behavioral plan for each special education and/or socially emotionally disturbed child in CGRC’s Elementary Education Services program.

Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Regularly review IEPs, case records, behavior plans, case histories, and past treatment documentation as a method of developing effective treatment measures and understanding past clinical approaches.

Utilize assessment phase as a method of developing a therapeutic relationship with child. Provide direct support to EES team with information related to behavior modification programs.

Provide weekly supervision and individual/group instruction to EES team members. Develop and modify the school wide behavioral plan.

Attend IEP meetings to discuss behavioral concerns. Schedule trainings for EES team to ensure that team stays current with teaching/behavioral strategies.

Provide school wide communications to families and external stakeholders. Track and analyze student data to better develop treatment objectives.

Actively utilize EHR (Electronic Health Record) to access information in all departments for which assigned clients have services. Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings relating to an individual child, including case review meetings to access, provide, or coordinate mental health and education services for the client.

Coordinate with psychiatry and psychology team regularly.Assist psychiatrist with follow-up on psychiatric evaluations, attend all medication appointments, and provide the psychiatrist with detailed information on current behaviors exhibited in the classroom. Conduct all intake assessments of perspective clients.

Effectively utilize supervision by being prepared to talk about clients and presents all necessary information professionally and respectfully. Understand when additional supervision may be needed and seek out that additional help.

Integrate supervisory input and utilize supervision as a context within which to develop and assess skills Provide weekly supervision and individual/group instruction to EES team members. Meet with Division Director on a regular basis and provide updates related to the program.

Access and utilize the EHR to update the performance journal with relevant information, review evaluations, and maintain goal progress.Record all case progress notes to maintain accurate history of treatment events and client progress; utilize DAP format and relate notes to treatment plans. Understand and adhere to all professional requirements related to confidentiality and client records; adapt to new agency protocols as new standards emerge.

Complete all documentation required within determined timeframes; write legibly and complete all forms, consistent with CGRC corporate compliance procedures. Demonstrate understanding of chart management, keep client records updated as needed and present charts that are satisfactory to any internal or external auditing parties.

Adhere to all agency compliance mandates including accuracy, timeliness, and attention to detail. Create effective networks inside and outside of agency to reach mutual goals on behalf of client care.

Demonstrate interpersonal skills by providing leadership when appropriate, maintaining collaborative relationships with colleagues, taking initiative, and maintaining positive attitude. Consider and accept feedback from others, accept appropriate role presented by each situation.

Provide support and information to colleagues when able; accept responsibility for maintaining program and agency standards for professionalism and best practices. Provide crisis management on an as needed basis.This includes but is not limited to the restraint process, client/parent follow-up, and team member consultation.

Role model to peers by demonstrating superior client interaction skills. Contact family, when appropriate, to connect them with services or update them on client progress.

Adhere to program expectations regarding productivity; understand requirements related to team and program expectations and plan accordingly. Handle administrative duties consistent with CGRC technology reporting requirements.

Stay abreast of issues and events that have impact program services. Hire, supervise, and direct all program personnel as assigned by Division Director.

Complete all service authorizations and renewal forms for managed care company and other insurance companies; maintain awareness of coverage, authorization, and billing procedures Demonstrate an understanding and the ability to apply the need to control and contain costs. Complete annual educational requirements.

Seek out additional training and/or education as it pertains to job and/or career goals. Maintain current certification and or licensure, if applicable.

Participate in competency assessment, reviews, and validations. Required Education and Experience Master’s degree in education; leadership management; counseling, psychology, social work, or related fields; Competent to address age-specific issues relative to the population served; Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a child and adolescent service system provider (CASSP), providing direct support to children, adolescents, and families; Knowledge and background in dealing with socially, emotionally and behavioral disordered children/adolescents; Knowledge of crisis management techniques, including de-escalation strategies and physical restraint; Minimum five (5) years supervising education or behavior teams; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Valid driver’s license; Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, as necessary; Ability to work effectively with client, staff, outside agencies, and the public.

Preferred Education and Experience License and / or certification in respective field.
