TITLE: Benefits/Attendance Assistant
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Business Services
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
GRADE/TIER: G5
LOCATION: Administration Building
JOB SUMMARY: Provide support and assistance to staff for benefit and attendance matters. Maintain strict confidentiality with respect to information concerning students, personnel and other administrative matters affecting the district.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION
- Administer medical benefits including COBRA and Early Retirement Incentives for employees; process related invoices, collect premium payments.
- Enroll and disenroll employees and demographic changes
- Maintain roster and database of enrolled employees per benefit
- Administer voluntary benefits including health savings, 403b, stop gap insurances or others as added; process related invoices, collect premium payments.
- Enroll and disenroll employees and demographic changes
- Maintain roster and database of enrolled employees per benefit
- Maintain log of accounts receivable for payroll and benefit payments/overpayments (including COBRA).
- Assist employees with questions about benefits.
- Process returned checks, send notices, and collect and deposit funds.
- Maintain and file all records for all healthcare programs.
- Maintain on-going interaction with the payroll clerk to communicate medical coverage costs and changes.
- Review and adjust new insurance costs for all employee contributions to group insurance plans.
- Prepare and distribute information for open enrollment to all employees each Spring.
ATTENDANCE ADMINISTRATION
- Enter district attendance data into the District database (currently Frontline & PowerSchool).
- Maintain and update attendance records for administration building secretaries and administrative staff.
- Coordinate attendance verification across all bargaining units with staff at each District building. Investigate and reconcile attendance discrepancies.
- Maintain attendance records including daily attendance logs
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Business Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Additional training preferred
- Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
- Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
- FBI Criminal History Record
- Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
- Must possess computer skills
- Must possess general office/secretarial skills
- Ability to operate office equipment
