All lanes of I-94 near Northbrook were closed Thursday after a crash caused live wires to dangle over the highway, according to Illinois State Police.
Around 3:24 p.m., state police arrived on scene to divert traffic off the highway on both sides of I-94, just east of I-294, police said. The highway was still shut down as of 6 p.m. Thursday.
Northbrook police, who handled the initial crash, didn’t immediately respond to a request for details on the incident.
“There is no ETA on when the lanes will reopen, but crews are actively working on removing the hazard,” state police said in a statement. “Motorists are urged to seek an alternate route.”
