Hyde Park man arrested in June shots fired incident

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (NEWS10)– On June 3, 2025, City of Poughkeepsie Police Officers responded to 134 Cannon Street for reports of shots fired. Almost five months later, police arrested the suspect, 37-year-old Jamison Cuevas, of Hyde Park.

Police said the shooting happened around 1:38 p.m. Upon arrival, they located two occupied vehicles which sustained bullet damage and identified the victim.

An investigation revealed the incident began as an argument, which escalated when the suspect shot multiple rounds from his car into the victim’s car and then fled the scene. Detectives said through investigating, an arrest warrant for Cuevas was issued.

He was arrested by detectives on Tuesday, around 9:30 a.m. He was charged with first degree attempted assault and second degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felony charges.
