Authorities are investigating after human remains were discovered in Riverside County.
On Sept. 15, Riverside County deputies responded to a remote area near Esparta Avenue and Salton View Road in Whitewater shortly before 9 p.m.
Officials from the Coroners’ Bureau responded to the scene and confirmed the remains were human. Investigators said the remains belonged to an adult.
Further details, including the victim’s identity, how long the remains may have been there or a possible cause of death, were not released and remain under investigation.
